Celebrating the Military Family
7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballrooms

On November 2, 2016, the Armed Services YMCA will host Celebrating the Military Family breakfast at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballrooms from 7:30 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. This unique event provides community and military leaders the opportunity to honor one family from each of the six service branches (United States Army, United States Marine Corps, United States Navy, United States Air Force, United States Coast Guard and Hawaii National Guard) and recognize their service and sacrifice.

As a private non-profit organization serving Hawaii’s military community since 1917, Armed Services YMCA has touched more military lives than any other organization in Hawaii. This year, the Armed Services YMCA’s care of military families during the December 7th attack and afterwards, is especially noteworthy given the 75th Commemoration of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Each weekend during WWII more than 4000 servicemen passed through the doors of the Army Navy YMCA, as it was called at the time.

The six military honoree families will inspire and Pearl Harbor Survivors who benefited from the Army Navy YMCA, as the Armed Services YMCA was called at the time, will be honored. This year’s program will include hula, musical entertainment, video presentation of each family, recognition of Pearl Harbor Survivors in attendance, presentation of awards, and guest speaker, Admiral Scott H. Swift, Commander, United States Pacific Fleet.
